{Introduction: Delays in recognizing stroke during pre-hospital emergency medical system (EMS) care may affect triage and transport time to an appropriate stroke ready hospital and may preclude patients from receiving time dependent treatment. All EMS transports in a large urban area in the stroke belt were evaluated for transport destinations, triage and transport time and stroke recognition following distribution of an educational training video to local EMS services.Hypothesis: Following video training, local paramedics will improve stroke recognition and shorten triage and transport time to appropriate stroke centers of care.Methods: A training module (}

{Objective: Determine the effects of repetitive brain injuries, whether concussive or not and its associated neurodevelopment abnormalities.Hypothesis: Repetitive concussive and non-concussive brain injuries increase the likelihood of developing early onset Alzheimers disease and chronic traumatic encephalopathy.Methods: The research paper looks at numerous study designs consisting of cohort studies, longitudinal studies and systematic reviews. Studies incorporating participants with repetitive brain injuries were used in order to assess the outcomes on the brain and its long-term effects. Individuals with traumatic brain injury were monitored over time and the levels of various biomarkers and protein build-up were traced along with its effects on behavior and cognitive functioning. Results: The results of various studies have shown that individuals who sustained chronic traumatic brain injuries are more likely to have a build-up of tau protein, amyloid plaques and neurofibrillary tangles in the brain. These individuals also exhibited elevated levels of S100 compared to those individuals who did not suffer chronic traumatic brain injuries. Studies involving individuals with traumatic brain injuries have revealed decreased levels of ApoE and higher levels of FDDNP signals in the amygdale and subcortical regions. Conclusion: In conclusion, the results of the research conclude that repetitive traumatic brain injuries play a significant role and are a major contributing risk factor in the development of early onset Alzheimers disease (EOAD) and chronic traumatic encephalopathy (CTE).}

{Background: Hormone replacement therapy (HT) for post-menopausal women is associated with increased incidence of ischemic stroke risk. Effects of HT on stroke related deficits and functional outcomes in acute ischemic stroke (AIS) are uncertain. We retrospectively examined female consult data for HT use and National Institutes of Health Stroke Score (NIHSS) at baseline and recovery for 2015 and 2016 in a large stroke telemedicine program. Hypothesis: The age of women who acknowledged HT use will negatively impact stroke severity and outcomes. Methods: We analyzed consult data from two consecutive years for all women and included HT use, current age, and baseline and 24 h NIHSSs. We included all women consults regardless of IV Alteplase treatment. 24 h NIHSS and three month modified Rankin scale (mRS) were included from women given IV Alteplase. Results: Strokes were identified in 523 women and 244 women received Alteplase therapy. Women without HT use numbered 459 and 64 women listed HT use. Mean NIHSS scores regardless of HT use significantly improved 24 h NIHSS vs. baseline NIHSS (p}

{Lexical meaning of leukoaraiosis is the decrease of density in white matter. Conceptually, the term leukoaraiosis does not reflect a clinical presentation but a radiological one. Proliferation of the clinical use of computed tomography (CT) scan of the head and MRI (magnetic resonance imaging) helps the easy diagnosis of leukoaraiosis In this study, we aimed to investigate the frequency of leukoaraiosis in the geriatric population in our region.}

{Background: Stroke or cerebrovascular accident (CVA) is defined as the sudden occurrence of a focal, non-conclusive neurological deficit; with variable consequences, ranging from subtle to very severe disabilities, depending on the area of the brain involved and the nature of the attack. Anti-platelet therapy such as aspirin and clopidogrel is used for both management and prevention of stroke, it reduced the incidence of stroke in patients at high risk for atherosclerosis and in those with known symptomatic cerebrovascular disease.Objective: To assess the difference in the outcome of dual anti platelet therapy clopidogrel and aspirin vs. aspirin, in acute ischemic stroke using Modified Ranking scale.Methods: A prospective Cohort study was conducted at the National center of neurological Science within the period of Jan- December 2018. Data collected through structural closed ended questionnaire. Data entered, cleaned, analyzed using SPSS version 25.0.The change in the outcome using Modified Ranking Scale after treatment was done.Results: This study covered 92 study participants, 75% were above 60 years of age, with ratio male: female. 1.2: 1. 45.6% were housewives while 95.1%were from rural residential areas. 93.5% complained of weakness ,dysphasia 60.9%, loss of consciousness 19.6% and swallowing difficulties among 15.2%. Investigations showed 54.3% had middle cerebral artery occlusion, 18.5% had lacunar infarcts, 10.9%had vertebral-and basilar artery occlusion while only 1.1% had cavernous sinus thrombosis. 9.8% had abnormal complete blood count results, 12% had abnormal renal functions, 16.3% had abnormal random blood glucose, and 28.3% had abnormal urine analysis results. In this study, cross tabulation was done to assess the possible association between the type of treatment given in presentation with the change in Modified Rankin Scale using t paired statistical test. The analysis found that there was a significant reduction in Modified Rankin Scale from 4.2 to 3.2 (p value}
